Matthews Data Center Tabled...For Now

For many, the decision to withdraw plans to develop a local land parcel into a data center is a blast of good news. Others, however note that the development application may be resubmitted after the new year.

In the meantime, here is a video overview of the issue.

Early Voting Begins

Early voting begins on October 23 from 8:00 am to 7:30 pm at the Matthews library. The early voting period ends on November 1.

C.O.S.Kids Fall Festival

Time: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Location: COS Kids, 226 West John Street
Details: Enjoy a fall festival organized by C.O.S.Kids.

Comedy Bingo Night

Time: 6:30 p.m. doors open, 7 p.m. show begins
Location: Matthews Community Center
Details: Headlined by Cee-Jay Jones, this bingo night adds a comedic twist to the game. Two guest comedians are also scheduled to perform. Craft beer will be available for purchase.
Tickets: $15 in advance, $20 at the door.

Live Music with William Nesmith

Time: 7 p.m.
Location: Carolina Beer Temple, 215 North Ames Street
Details: Enjoy live music from William Nesmith. He is promoting his new single "We Are A Great Idea", described as a "fun and rhythmic anthem with a strong message of uplifting community and the greatness of everybody."

Matthews Community Farmers Market

Time: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Location: 188 N. Trade St., next to Renfrows
Details: This popular year-round market features a wide array of fresh produce, baked goods, local meats, and other artisanal goods.

Oaklore - Matthews

Time: 6 p.m.
Location: Oaklore Distilling Co., 11136 Monroe Road
Details: Oaklore is hosting Pumpkinfest during the month of October. Stop by to sample their spirits, including "Bloody Butcher Corn", a whiskey.

Halloween Massacre 2025

Time: 7 p.m.
Location: Carolina Beer Temple & the Ames Street Marketplace, 215 North Ames Street
Details: Enjoy a Halloween-themed professional wresting event at the Carolina Beer Temple. This sounds like it could be a lot of fun. Beer and wrestling? There's a crowd for that.

Audio Legacy - Live at Moochie's Tavern

Time: 9 p.m.

Details: The rock band Audio Legacy will perform a mix of popular rock hits.

Haunted House Almost Here

Annual haunted house by Matthews Playhouse opens October 24. There will be games, costume contests, Trunk or Treat and much more. Check this out for more info.
