The Haunted Trail fundraiser has been a beloved community tradition since 2018, creating an optimistic mood as it supports the arts.

All proceeds from ticket sales benefit Matthews Playhouse, allowing the nonprofit to make theatre accessible to everyone.

With reliance on the generosity of supporters, Matthews Playhouse is able to provide high-quality performances, educational programs, and outreach.

Whether a long-time supporter or new to Matthews Playhouse, this event provides an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate their shared love of theatre.

The "Not So Spooky" Trail: 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. $10 per person

β€œFull Fright” Trail: 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. $10 per person

There will also be food trucks, a DJ, costume contest, fun and games and more.

Don't miss this annual event this Friday Saturday and Sunday.

Duke Energy will be using helicopters during daylight hours to access specific sections of a transmission line for upgrades in the Pleasant Plains Road area.

The project is part of a larger transmission line upgrade covering approximately 23.4 miles.

The upgrades aim to boost the reliability of the electric grid and support future clean energy needs.

Residents may notice helicopters operating in the area as the work progresses.

This project is being carried out by Duke Energy, not the Town of Matthews.

For more information, contact Duke Energy at email protected or 800-365-8979.

In the Town of Matthews, it is important to know the safe and legal ways to manage yard waste, especially with fall leaves covering yards.

Burning yard waste is illegal and presents risks to nearby properties.

Protecting storm drains and streams from clogs and pollution is essential.

Leaves can be used for lawn nutrients or natural winter protection.

Curbside collection guidelines include using paper bags or reusable containers marked "YARD WASTE." Small limbs are accepted, but not tree trunks or firewood.

Residents can get free yard waste bags at designated locations.

By working together, Matthews can maintain a clean, safe, and eco-friendly community in the fall.
