SNAP Double Bucks at Farmers Market

SNAP benefits may be paused beginning Saturday, November 1, but local support isn’t stopping.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Food Policy Council, in partnership with Mecklenburg County Public Health and five participating farmers markets, will launch a temporary SNAP Double Bucks Contingency Program on Saturday, November 1, to help Mecklenburg County families keep some access to fresh, local food during the federal shutdown.

Here’s how it works 👇

🥦 Bring your EBT card and photo ID (or ID with proof of Mecklenburg County address) to a participating winter market.
💵 Receive $50 in market tokens — no purchase transaction required.
🧺 Use tokens for SNAP-eligible foods from local vendors.
♻️ Tokens are market-specific and can be saved for another market day.

📍 Participating Markets:
• Davidson Farmers Market
Matthews Community Farmers Market
• South End Farmers Market
• Uptown Farmers Market
• Charlotte Regional Farmers Market

This short-term community effort is made possible through limited funding and available first-come, first-served. Participation is limited to Mecklenburg County residents.

The goal is the same: to keep food access flowing, support local farmers, and make sure no one is left behind while federal benefits are on hold.

Things to Do This Weekend
