Matthews Data Center Sparks Debate, Residents to Question Developer at Town Hall Meeting

A contentious proposal for a new data center in Matthews is facing two critical public meetings.

Residents will have a chance to question developers about Project Accelerate, a planned 123-acre facility on East John Street, during a community meeting this Thursday, October 2, at 6:30 PM in Matthews Town Hall.

Growing opposition over potential environmental impacts, noise, and strain on local infrastructure prompted the Matthews Board of Commissioners to reopen the official public hearing.

That formal hearing on the rezoning petition is now scheduled for Monday, October 13, at 7 PM.

Both meetings offer residents a direct opportunity to voice their concerns and influence the future of the controversial project.
